Cory Hill, the estranged husband of Shakeira Rucker, whose body was discovered in his Florida storage unit in November, has been charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, according to the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit.

Rucker had been reported missing, and her body was found in a unit at Self Storage in Apopka. The Orange County sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call about a smell emanating from Hill’s storage unit.

Hill, 51, was already in jail on attempted murder charges for shooting at an ex-girlfriend and her family on Nov. 12, the same day Rucker was allegedly killed. Rucker had recently learned about Hill’s relationship with another woman. The affidavit suggests Hill killed Rucker before attempting the other murder. Further charges, potentially first-degree murder, may be brought as the investigation progresses. Hill is currently held without bond and represented by the public defender’s office. The case is ongoing, and additional details are limited at this time.
